Mini Mass

A Special place to meet with God

The miracle of having children and watching them grow can open our eyes to another whole dimension and meaning to life.

Mini Mass provides a relaxed easy environment where you and your little ones can explore that other dimension: God is here.

Mini Mass is a group of mums, dads, grandma’s, aunties and others who look after babies and young children and want a place where they and their children can connect with God.

Sometimes Sunday worship is difficult to get to and although young children are always welcome, it can be stressful looking after them.  Mini Mass is a short, informal, interactive style of  church where both the adults and children can find something of God.   We hope that you will feel welcome and soon find yourself at home here.

The Service is led by one of the parish clergy and the Mini Mass ministry team.   On the second Tuesday of the month when the clergy can not be there, the service is entirely community lead by the ministry team.

First steps

What Happens in Mini Mass?

We always introduce each part of the service as we get to it, so that, even if ‘church’ is an unfamiliar place, we hope you will have fun.    There will always be someone who knows (more or less!) what is happening who will sit near you and help explain anything.

We all gather together to start with, sitting in a large circle and introducing ourselves.   We then welcome each person and Jesus with singing and a short prayer .

We tell the Bible’s story of God here with us in different ways, sometimes with puppets, sometimes with beautiful wooden shapes, sometimes with simply a child’s story book.

To talk to God we ask ourselves the question ‘What is it we want to thank God for, to ask him for, or to simply to tell him about?’.   All the children old enough and the adults share one or two things going round the circle.

We then share bread and wine.   This ‘meal’ is at the centre of our lives as Christ’s People.   The story of all that God has done for us becomes a prayer of thanksgiving as bread and wine are shared.   You will find that you quickly pick up the community’s parts of this prayer – in the meantime simply relax and enjoy.

We go out to coffee and play with God’s blessing on us.

Everyone!
