Report on the Fabric, Goods and Ornaments of the Church
Parish of All Saints, Ascot Heath - Parochial Church Meeting - Wednesday April 6th 2011.
Churchwardens’ Report
The Churchwardens, as officers of the Bishop of Reading, take pleasure in declaring to the meeting, that all aspects of the Parish Church of All Saints, Ascot Heath and the Chapel of St. Mary and St. John that are subject to specific powers, duties or considerations vested in them, are in order.
We briefly summarise the items within our formal powers and duties as follows:
· The Churchwardens as legal owners, on behalf of the parishioners, of the plate, ornaments, movable furniture and furnishings and all other articles belonging to the church, declare that all such items are listed in the church Inventory, which is supplemented by the NADFAS report.
· The Inventory as presented to the meeting is considered to be in order and up to date.
· The fabric of the church will be maintained in the manner prescribed in the Inspection of Churches Measure Quinquennial Report dated 11th August 2009, to the extent that all repairs and renewals as recommended in the report will be completed before December 2014
· The current Quinquennial Inspection report is presented to the meeting.
· All such completed work or changes will be listed in the church Logbook .
· The next Quinquennial Inspection will take place in the summer of 2014.
· The church Logbook, as presented to the meeting, is considered to be in order and up to date.
· The Terrier of lands belonging to the church, which also defines the parish boundary, as presented to the meeting is considered to be correct.
· All movable furnishings and ornaments have been kept in usable and good order. A new flower pedestal has been created from the unsafe oak lectern and may be seen in the Sanctuary.
· The holy vessels, vestments and fair linen are in order; some minor repairs are being made to a communion wine flask after accidental damage to the base during the year.
· All monies received through alms, legacies, donations and collections have been duly placed with the PCC Treasurer, recorded in the accounts and duly banked.
· Order has been maintained in the church and churchyard during Divine services and at other times.
· The church, churchyard and other property have been maintained through the Maintenance Committee, as stated in the relevant report. A new interment of ashes area has been created: “The Millennium Yew Memorial Garden”. This is now in use.
· Bicycle racks have been installed for the use of visitors to the Church and Hall.
· Maintenance work at the Parsonage has also taken place, including the installation of a new boiler and improvements to the heating system, for the safety and comfort of our new curate, her husband and family.
· All Saints’ Church Hall and its environs have been well maintained and used. Thanks to grants obtained, mainly by the Pre-School group, a new floor has been laid and a new sun-awning put in place.
· Ss. Mary and John Chapel and King Edward’s Hall have been well maintained and used, as stated in the relevant report. The Parish Office continues to accommodate the Parish Administrator.
· The Archdeacon’s Visitation will take place in May 2011, when the newly appointed churchwardens will be legally sworn into office.
· The Area Dean’s annual visit to the Parish will take place at a time to be notified.
