Nursing Home Transport
Nursing Home Transport
As its name implies, the scheme was established to assist elderly people in Nursing and Residential Care Homes and in the community to get to church on Sunday and join in the Parish Mass. The care homes which featured in the scheme included:-
St Christopher’s Nursing Care Home - Ascot Priory
St David’s Nursing Home, Ascot Priory
Sandridge House Nursing, London Road, Ascot (later excluded for its proximity from the Church)
During the intervening years, because of frailty and changes in the population of the elderly patients, Holy Communion is now taken to them in their respective care homes. So the scheme now focuses on elderly people living alone or with relatives in the community who would like to attend church services on Sunday.
The scheme depends on voluntary drivers who are members of the congregation and offer their services within the principles of time and talent. They remain available and are called upon according to the number of elderly people who would like to do so.
This is a venture aimed at reaching out to elderly people in the community, and the co-ordinator relies on members of the congregation for information. If you know of any elderly person in need of this service or if you are not already involved in the scheme and would like to do so, please contact:-
